Rebuilding Zwelibomvu Crèche

The Zwelibomvu Drop-In Centre Crèche rondavel was undermined during the April ’22 floods. The wall cracked making the building unsafe for use and an urgent solution had to be found to accommodate the children. A new site was identified and a slab was cast by the Community Outreach Centre.

At their request, KidZAid then facilitated the installation of a Wendy Hut on the new slab to replace the damaged rondavel.

The funding was donated by SizaBantu Piping Systems.

Baby and Toddler Clothing for 1000 Hills Community Helpers

Baby and toddler clothing was collected by KidZAid from donors and sent to 1000 Hills Community Helpers.

Extension and Repair of the Jungle Gym at Candyfloss Preschool

23 August ’22 was a happy day for all the children at Candyfloss Preschool, Mariannridge! KidZAid facilitated the extension and repair of their jungle gym, thanks to the great generosity of SizaBantu Piping Systems.

In the words of the Candyfloss management:

Indeed it is a great asset to our playground and to the school in general. I’m sure the children will have much fun and pleasure for many years to come

The school has 2 learning disabled children in the grade 00 class & these children will ultimately be referred to special schools. However, the occupational therapist has decided that the best plan of action would be to keep these children in the school as the play equipment outside (and in particular the jungle gym) is very good for their gross and fine motor control. This is not possible in the very large primary schools. “So from the very beginning, this jungle gym is an asset to the school”.

Embizeni Crèche: Pipes to Redirect Storm Water

A dream of many years has come true for Emelda Kunene, principal of Embizeni Crèche, Shongweni! Piping was installed to redirect storm water flowing though the property, (from the Municipal drain), which was eroding the play ground and vegetable garden.

Once again, a huge shout out to SizaBantu Piping, Westmead. Your generous gift will give 66 children a bigger play area, a safe space when it rains and a larger veggie garden for healthy lunches. Sincere gratitude from the KidZAid Trust!

Phenomenal generosity from SizaBantu Piping, Westmead,

who delivered a 2 month supply of food plus stationery for the 33 pre-schoolers at Candyfloss Crèche. Mikaela Cowan of SizaBantu Piping presented stationery and food valued at R8 000 to Charmaine Cupido at Candyfloss Crèche in December 2021.

Siyaphumula Old Age Group

Siyaphumula Gogos (grandmothers) help out at Embizeni Crèche with story telling and entertain the children with tales of folklore.
They also meet weekly to do handcrafts together. Using fabric offcuts, the Gogos weave yarn to make rugs & mats which they sell to supplement their pensions. They also collect bread bags & shopping bags to make tightly woven, washable door mats.
