Visit to Embizeni Creche: Book and Toy Donation

In March 2024, the KidZAid Committee made a heartwarming visit to Embizeni Crèche, a beneficiary in Ntshongweni supporting 60 children! Wooden toys (crafted by the Pinetown Woodcrafters) and “wordless” books, designed to foster early literacy skills were also donated.

Did you know? In South Africa, 80% of Grade 4 learners struggle with reading comprehension. This alarming statistic motivated our collaboration with Book Dash, a local publisher dedicated to creating books in all South African languages

Together, we can ignite a love for reading among our children!

Profiles Hair & Beauty Lounge, Field’s Centre, Kloof, hosted a raffle in support of the KidZAid Trust which was generously supported by all their staff and salon clients.

The hamper was beautifully wrapped courtesy of Kloof Florist and consisted of a crate with fancy chocolates, biscuits, wine, olives, nougat, chips and sweets. The happy winner was Yvonne Greig of Kloof.

KidZAid’s sincere gratitude for the gift of your voices, your time, and your generosity

The Williams Saints Ladies Choir conducted by Ronel Laidlaw-Perks & the Kloof Methodist Church Choir conducted by Tony Olds, accompanied by pianist Priscilla Crundwell, joined forces for an uplifting afternoon of harmonious melodies in support of KidZAid. It must have taken hours of rehearsal to achieve such perfection.

Peter is Running the Comrades to Raise Funds for KidZAid

KidZAid is pleased to announce that Peter Symons has selected KidZAid as his Comrades Marathon charity.

It will be his first Comrades Marathon (90 km). Since the beginning of the year, Peter has been diligently following a rigorous training schedule, running on farm and country roads in Eshowe, where he is a farm manager.

The funding raised via this campaign will be used to feed pre-schoolers at creches in Inchanga, Ntshongweni, Mariannhill and Mariannridge.

Siyaphumula Old Age Group

Siyaphumula Gogos (grandmothers) help out at Embizeni Crèche with story telling and entertain the children with tales of folklore.
They also meet weekly to do handcrafts together. Using fabric offcuts, the Gogos weave yarn to make rugs & mats which they sell to supplement their pensions. They also collect bread bags & shopping bags to make tightly woven, washable door mats.
